Pneumatic/Electrical Control Systems

Robertson Air Systems has been building pneumatic/electric control systems for companies that utilize material handling equipment such as Weyerhauser, Georgia Pacific, Seaboard Envelope,  and Westvaco Envelope. These systems are designed with the goal of maximizing production efficiency and utilize state-of-the-art components as follows:

Pneumatic/electric control systems effectively utilizing the above components can save days of labor costs and production down time. Please view the "What's New" page to see existing successful systems

Pneumatic/Electric Panels:

Robertson Air Systems pneumatic/electric panels centralize industrial controls and receive inputs from remote electronic or manual switching devices to control the operation of moving parts, digital displays, light indicators, and alarms. Centralizing controls in a pneumatic/electric panel saves costs and simplifies the following:
  • Wiring and conduit connections.
  • Control system trouble shooting.
  • Maintenance and upkeep.
  • Future expansions.

Pneumatic Valve Manifolds:

Pneumatic valve manifolds are the most efficient way to control multiple pneumatic devices from a centralized location. They simplify the following:
  • The filtered, regulated, and lubricated air supply connection (only one required).
  • The exhaust air connections (only two required)
  • Remote pneumatic tubing connections.
  • Control system trouble shooting.
  • Valve cleaning and parts replacement.
  • Future expansions.

The pneumatic valve manifold shown on the right was installed for Georgia Pacific Corporation in Madera, CA. The manifold has operated 10 diverter valves flawlessly with all of the above advantages.

Air Cylinders, Motors, and Actuators:

Using the pneumatic air cylinders, motors, and air actuators are a simple, powerful, reliable, and cost effective way to operate two directional radially or linearly slow moving parts or equipment. Other advantages are as follows:

Robertson Air Systems specializes in designing, installing, and operating pneumatically actuated mechanical equipment for the material handling industry. We look forward to utilizing our skills to maximizing your production efficiency.

Programmable Controller:

Programmable controllers greatly simplify the integration of remote switches, multi-function moving part systems, interactive displays, and alert systems.

Robertson Air Systems is a licensed user of Allen Bradley RSLogic 500 software for the SLC-500 programmable controllers and has considerable programming experience in many different industrial applications. We are available for designing new systems, trouble shooting, fault clearing, and repair.

Please see our "What's New" page to view systems programmed and controlled by Allen Bradley programmable controllers.

Specialized Remote Switching Devices:

The proper selection of remote switching devices is critical when designing pneumatic/electric control systems. False readings or a failure to respond is unsafe, costly, and can be devastating to production.

Robertson Air Systems utilizes only state-of-art remote switching devices in our control systems. The most commonly used device is a Sonac Sensor (sound sensing) high level detector that stops cyclone separator back-ups in paper-handling applications.

During back-ups, the cyclone mounted Sonac Sensors sends a signal to the pneumatic/electric panel mounted programmable controller.  The controller automatically controls pneumatic valves, warning lights, motors, and alarms in order to  1) alert the personnel that a back-up has occurred,  2) direct paper to another cyclone (if available), or  3) shut the system down.

Please view the "What's New" page to view an example of the system described above.

Interactive Digitally Displayed Modules:

Interactive digitally displayed modules provide readable push button selected information stored in programmable controllers. The following useful information is provided:
  1. Production counts.
  2. Calibrated analog readings with unit descriptions
  3. Time, count, or analog set alert or descriptive statements.
  4. Alarm descriptions.

Please see the Seaboard Envelope Company project description for a detailed example of the above component.
